FAQ

Common questions

Every question we get asked, with the full answer. Including the ones that cost us sales: when this is not for you, what happens if your operator says no, and why we do not promise 112 calls.

Do I have to change provider?
No. You keep your operator and your usual number.
What does it cost per month?
Nothing. There is no monthly fee, no data plan to take out and no new SIM card. You carry on paying exactly what you pay your provider today.
Is it legal to fit a signal booster at home?
Yes, with one condition, and the condition does all the work: in Spain a mobile-telephony booster may only be installed by the operator who holds those frequencies, or by someone that operator authorises. The Spanish Ministry says exactly that, and we quote it in full in are mobile signal boosters legal in Spain?. We request that authorisation from your provider before anything goes up, in writing and in your name. Without it we do not install: not at your insistence and not at ours.
And if my operator says no?
Then we do not install and you pay nothing. We would rather be this blunt from the start: the authorisation is not ours to give, and we are not going to promise you an answer that is not in our hands. If your provider refuses, we tell you what other routes are left — switching operator is free and is usually the first thing to try — and there our work ends, with no invoice.
Isn't a booster off the internet cheaper?
Cheaper, yes. The device costs between 100 and 400 euros and arrives in two days. What does not come in the box is the permission, and switching it on without one is a serious infringement of the Spanish Telecommunications Act, not a parking ticket. A CE mark or the word "type-approved" means it can be sold, not that it can be switched on: two different things, and the shops mix them up on purpose. On top of that you have to pick the right model and set its gain, because a badly fitted booster interferes with the village mast, and that is precisely what gets chased down. We explain all of it, with the official source, on this page.
How long does it take?
The fitting itself, half a day in most houses. What we cannot promise you is how long the operator's permission takes, because that is not up to us. We keep you posted.
Why not Starlink?
Starlink is satellite internet and it works very well. We simply don't sell the same thing: Starlink brings internet to the house, we give your mobile its signal back in the living room. With Starlink your phone still doesn't ring; with ours you still have no internet. If what you lack is internet, Starlink or fibre is a better answer than us, and we will say so. If what you lack is your phone ringing, this is the answer, and with no monthly fee. And if there is no usable mobile signal on your roof, we tell you during the survey and we don't install.
I have a UK number. Will this work for me?
Yes, and it is one of the advantages of doing it this way. Your UK handset sees nothing unusual: it sees the Spanish network it already connects to when you step outside, and roams as it always does. It does not depend on your UK operator or on any setting in the phone. If you also want to understand why it works in the street and not indoors, it is in a UK mobile in Spain.
What if there is no signal at all?
Then this is not for you, and it matters that you know before spending anything. A booster strengthens the signal that is already there: if there is absolutely nothing on the roof to pick up, there is nothing to boost. That is why we measure first. If we can't improve it, we tell you and we don't install.
Is this home internet?
No, and we would rather tell you now than later. What we install is there to give your mobile signal inside your house. We are not an internet company, we sell no megabits and no speed, and we are no replacement for fibre. If what you want is internet for work, for the TV or for guests, tell us: we will say honestly whether fibre, another operator or satellite suits you better.
Will you touch my router or my home WiFi?
No. We fit no router, we create no WiFi network and we do not touch the one you already have. Our installation is not connected to your internet at all: it is entirely independent, and would work just the same in a house with no fibre. If you change internet provider one day, this keeps working and there is no need to call us.
What about WhatsApp, messages and mobile data?
All of it comes back with the signal, because what you get back is your operator's whole network: calls, texts and mobile data, on your usual number and your usual plan. There is no app to install and no setting to change on the handset. And it covers every phone in the house at once, visitors' phones included, with no password to hand out.
What if my phone is an old one?
It doesn't matter. If your phone works in the street, it works with this: we ask nothing special of it, no modern feature and no recent model. It is the same old network, in a place it did not reach before. A button phone works too.
I already have WiFi. Isn't WiFi Calling enough?
Sometimes it is, and if that is your case we will say so: it is free and nobody needs to come out. Check it yourself in five minutes with this guide, which sells you nothing. But it has four limits worth knowing: not every operator and not every handset allows it; many UK numbers have it blocked outside the UK; it only works where your WiFi reaches, so the garden, the pool and the garage still have nothing; and if the fibre or the power goes, your phone goes with it. What we install depends on none of that.
What about 112 and emergency calls?
We don't promise it in writing, and be wary of anyone who does. An installation like this works with the signal that already exists on your roof, so it depends on that signal still being there, on your operator and on your handset: it is not in our hands to guarantee. It also runs on mains power, and in a blackout it stops working unless you have the backup battery. Always keep another way available — a landline, or a spot in the house or garden where the phone has signal. We show you one during the installation.
Do I need internet or WiFi at home?
No. That is precisely the difference from WiFi Calling: the booster works with your operator's mobile network, not with your internet connection. It works just the same in a house with no fibre and no router. If you do have fibre, try WiFi Calling first: it is free.
What happens if the power goes off?
The booster switches off, like any plugged-in device, and the signal indoors goes back to what it was before. That is why we always say to keep another way of raising the alarm available, and why we do not promise 112 calls. If your area loses power often, there is a 149 € UPS that keeps the equipment running for a while.
What if something breaks?
The equipment is under warranty, and optional annual maintenance is available.
