Questions about this
What do the bars on a phone mean?
They are a scale of 0 to 4 or 0 to 5 depending on the phone, and they do not measure the same on every phone. They are good for comparing outside and inside with the same device, which is what this test asks.
Can I buy a booster myself?
Boosters are on sale, but using one without your operator's prior authorisation is not allowed, and you are the one who answers for it. We explain it in full, with the Ministry's official notice, on the legality page linked below.
What if I have no signal outside either?
Then there is no signal to amplify: a booster does not create one. We look at whether a higher directional antenna picks up another mast, or we look for another route, such as WiFi calling or satellite internet.
Are the results of this test a measurement?
No. It is guidance from what you tell us. We have not measured your town: we publish no map and no no-signal zone. To know for sure we have to measure at your house.
