Solar panels in Rojales and the Vega Baja: price, output and a calculator
The Vega Baja is among the best places in Europe for self consumption: lots of sun, houses with their own roof and air conditioning in summer. But a panel only saves what it produces while you consume. This guide sets out the figures, and the calculator runs them with your consumption.
What one kWp produces in Rojales
PVGIS, the European Commission's tool, gives Rojales 1,659 kWh a year per kWp installed, at the optimum 36° tilt facing south with 14 % losses. A 3 kWp system would therefore produce about 5,000 kWh a year, more than many households use.
What it costs installed
| Power | Price from | Per kWp |
|---|---|---|
| 2 kWp | 4,200 € | 2,100 € |
| 3 kWp | 5,100 € | 1,700 € |
| 4 kWp | 6,200 € | 1,550 € |
| 5 kWp | 7,200 € | 1,440 € |
«From» prices published by Selectra (April 2026); the per kWp column is our own division. A difficult roof, a special frame or an old fuse board push the figure up.
What you do not use: the surplus
Under simplified compensation, spare energy goes into the grid and your supplier deducts it every month, in money, from the energy part of the bill: it is not banked as kWh and cannot take the energy charge below zero. According to Selectra (July 2026), several large suppliers pay around 0.06 €/kWh, and some 0.07 or less. In other words: a kWh you use as it is produced is worth what you pay for it (about 0.22 €), and a surplus one is worth about 0.06 €. That is why the figure that matters most is how much you use by day.

Assumptions: 1,659 kWh a year per kWp, which PVGIS (European Commission) calculates for Rojales at the optimum 36° tilt with 14 % losses. Price per kWh: 0.22 €, the average regulated PVPC price for August 2026 according to OCU. Surplus: 0.06 €/kWh, what several suppliers pay according to Selectra (July 2026). Installed price: 1,700 € per kWp, from the 5,100 € Selectra gives for 3 kWp. The share you use as it is produced (45 %) is our own assumption: change it. It leaves out grants, local taxes and equipment wear.
Paperwork in the Valencian Community
For systems up to 10 kW, the authorised installer registers the system online in the Generalitat's self consumption register (procedure 18168). Also ask your town hall planning office what notice they require for the roof. And ask about taxes: the law lets each town hall reduce IBI by up to 50 % and ICIO by up to 95 % for solar systems, but each decides in its own bylaws; we have not been able to confirm what Rojales applies today.
Direct grants: the national household programme (Royal Decree 477/2021) took applications until 31 December 2023, and IVACE's 2026 call was for town halls only and closed on 15 May 2026. If someone sells you panels «with a grant», ask to see the open call.
We do not install solar panels or do electrical work, and we have no partner installers. This guide exists so that you reach the quote with your numbers done.
