No signal with DIGI at home in Spain: what to check, and in what order
If you have no DIGI signal inside the house, the first fix is free: switch on WiFi Calling on the phone, which DIGI offers at no cost and over any WiFi network. If you have no internet at home, or calls are not the only thing failing, the question becomes whether a signal worth boosting reaches the roof. And with DIGI there is one more question than with the other operators: whose network is it that reaches your house.
Which network sits behind a DIGI SIM
DIGI started out in Spain as a mobile virtual operator, that is, with no network of its own. The European Commission put it this way in February 2024: 'Digi is the largest MVNO in Spain', with Telefónica as its wholesale provider. Two things have changed since, and both are on the public record:
- 20 February 2024 · European Commission. In approving the Orange and MásMóvil joint venture, the Commission requires them to divest spectrum to DIGI in three bands: 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz and 3.5 GHz. Two mid bands and one high band. No low band.
- 9 July 2024 · Telefónica. Telefónica and DIGI sign a mobile network agreement lasting 16 years, in force from 1 January 2025, under which Telefónica provides DIGI with 'National Roaming and RAN Sharing services'.
- What is not published. We have not found on DIGI's website a table of the bands it transmits in each area (searched on 2 October 2026). Which band reaches your street is something only a measurement can tell.
Why this matters inside a house. The same Commission press release says that mid and high bands are mainly suited to serving urban areas, and that low bands are the ones generally used to deploy networks in rural areas. DIGI's own spectrum, as recorded in that source, is mid and high. So in an isolated country house, or behind a thick wall, what your phone with a DIGI SIM receives almost certainly arrives through the agreement with Telefónica. That is our deduction from two public documents: it is not a measurement, and it is not a statement by DIGI.

First, and free: DIGI WiFi Calling
DIGI calls it VoWiFi. Its page says that with it you can make and receive calls, and send SMS, over the WiFi network, that the VoLTE and VoWiFi services are completely free, and that any WiFi network will do, 'sea de DIGI o de otro operador' (DIGI's or another operator's). It asks for two things: a compatible handset, running the latest version of its software. DIGI publishes the list of compatible handsets on that same page.
On Android, the steps DIGI gives (the menu name changes with the brand; we keep the Spanish labels because that is what a phone set to Spanish shows):
- Open Settings (Ajustes).
- Go to Mobile network or Network and Internet (Red móvil, Redes e Internet).
- Tap Mobile data or SIMs, then Wi-Fi Calling (Llamadas Wi-Fi).
- Switch on Wi-Fi Calling (Llamadas Wi-Fi, or Hacer llamadas usando Wi-Fi).
On an iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Mobile Data.
- Tap your SIM, if you have more than one.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling and switch the service on.
112 does not go over WiFi. DIGI spells it out: to make an emergency call to a short number, such as 112, you need mobile network coverage even with VoWiFi switched on. Keep that in mind if an elderly person, or someone who spends time alone, lives in the house.

When a booster is the answer, and when it is not
- Yes, if there is a steady signal on the terrace or the roof and none indoors: that is the case a booster solves.
- Yes, if the house has no fixed internet, or the WiFi does not reach the whole house, so WiFi Calling is no use to you.
- No, if only calls fail and you have fibre: switch on WiFi Calling, which is free, and you do not need us.
- No, if there is no signal on the roof either. A booster amplifies what arrives, it does not manufacture it.
- No, if for the last few hours it has not worked in the street either: that is a network fault, and the fix is a call to DIGI.
A booster is only switched on with the operator's authorisation: without it, it is an offence, which is why we do not install without it. With DIGI that means answering the opening question first, because the signal reaching your roof may be DIGI's own spectrum or may arrive over Telefónica's network. We check that during the survey, with your phone and your SIM, and we handle the authorisation request ourselves. We do not promise it will be granted: if it is not, we do not install and you do not pay for the installation. What the equipment looks like is in the signal booster, and how to read the signal yourself before calling us is in checking the signal at home.
Is there another line in the house with a different provider? We have the same page for Vodafone. And the causes that do not depend on the operator, distance, terrain and walls, are in why there is no signal at home.
